Wit's End Music Series: Meredith Foster
Americana Singer-Songwriter, Meredith Foster
Meredith Foster is a Charleston-based singer & songwriter known for her honest lyrics, rooted sound, and soulful storytelling. A native of Wildwood, Missouri, Foster began playing shows at age 13 and started writing songs at 14. She relocated to Charleston, South Carolina after 4 years in Mississippi and has played venues all across the country. She is the founder and host of “Dear Dive Bar,” an intimate, unplugged songwriter round series held monthly at Elliotborough Mini Bar which has showcased songwriters from all across the southeast.
She was recently named NSAI’s One to Watch, with her song “Momma Raised a Quitter” earning a coveted spot in NSAI’s Top 40, and was featured as a special guest In the Round at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville alongside the legendary Buddy Cannon.
Foster is set to release her first full-length album in fall of 2024 on the heels of her debut EP “Welcome to a Friday Night” which came out in October of 2023.
“Foster’s music conveys a fresh Americana sensibility melded with poetic narrative lyricism. It’s country in the sense that it relies heavily on storytelling, but also because of Foster’s smoldering twang. You can feel the old-school roots — it’s less the bedazzled Instagram country of today, and more the folksy, mournful country of the classics.” - Charleston City Paper.
